Advanced Dry Recovery (ADR)

ADR technology is a mechanical system that uses kinetic energy for sorting the input crushed concrete waste (0–16 mm) into three product streams: the coarse aggregates (4–16 mm), the sand (1–4 mm), and the fine product (<1 mm).

Unlike conventional sieving methods, ADR technology has proved the possibility of sorting crushed aggregate into different product streams in a relatively wet state. ADR has been patented by C2CA Technology (International publication number: WO 2012/015299 A1).

While the coarse fraction (4–16 mm) can be directly used in a new concrete mix, the fine fraction (0–4 mm) must be further processed to extract the old cement paste from the sand. The essential features of ADR technology are its mobility, flexibility, simplicity and affordability, with less than 1 kWh per ton input.

As the 'Dry' system, ADR sidesteps the use of water typical of traditional aggregate washing plants, yet maintains the ability to process construction and demolition waste (C&DW) aggregates with varied moisture contents. This allows on-site production of gravel and sand from end-of-life (EOL) concrete, offering significant savings in transportation costs and circumventing dust or sludge-related issues.

The ADR can be stationary or mobile, conveniently deployed at demolition sites for on-site processing.
